Many practitioners struggle with the physical resistance of the limb, but the solution isn't always more force. In this video, I share some techniques that make reducing two fragments a bit easier. And beyond the mechanics, I also talk about what I consider the most important component of fracture reduction: soft tissue management and muscle relaxation. Key Lessons for Easier Reduction: -"Breathe for the Patient": Instead of fighting the bone, apply gentle traction and hold. Wait for the muscles to yield over several breaths before applying more force. -The 48-Hour Window: Chronicity changes everything. Fractures older than 2 days require significantly more patience due to muscle shortening; don't expect a quick reduction. -Anatomy Matters: The humerus and femur require a very different approach compared to distal limb fractures. Understanding why makes all the difference.
