Fractured Background - Two Ways
https://jpollockdesigns.wordpress.com/2026/05/06/fractured-background/ Today I’m sharing two different ways to create a fractured background card. The first version is a bit more detailed, since it uses four separate pieces to build the background. The second method is quicker and uses just one piece, but still gives you that same fractured look. I started by die-cutting a square from a 3″ × 3″ piece of Berry Burst cardstock using the second‑largest square from the Stylish Shapes dies. I adhered it to the center of a Very Vanilla panel, turning the square so it sits as a diamond. Next, I added a 1/4″ × 4″ strip of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I lined the strip up with the top point of the diamond and let it extend off the edge of the cardstock. Then I added the next strip along the next edge of the diamond, butting it right up against the first one. I continued this process around all four sides. In the top left section of the panel, I adhered a 2″ × 3 3/4″ piece of Floral Charms patterned paper. In the top right section, I added a 2″ × 3″ piece of Country Woods patterned paper. After both pieces were in place, I flipped the panel over and trimmed away the excess. I repeated the same process for the bottom two sections, then attached the finished panel to a Blackberry Bliss card base. To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink onto a 2 1/2″ square of Basic Beige, then die‑cut it with the third‑largest Stylish Shapes square. I popped the sentiment up over the Berry Burst diamond with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a few Iridescent Foil Gems for a finishing touch. For the second version, you follow the same steps, but this time you add the square and strips onto a single piece of patterned paper. That way, you don’t need to adhere the individual background pieces separately.
