Fragmented heart2

It is not that I am afar, but we men have in our hearts steel fragments, The roar of canons, and the thunder of hooves play rhythmically testing our holy sacraments, Thunder and storms are melody in a rain-soaked night, where steel clangs, gunpowder clouds the air, and we witness a gruesome sight. Trust me when I tell you I wanted this to be better, I tried all I could, but could not muster, and thought it would happen later, I had some bread and coffee, but they had silver and gold, And my gunslinging skills failed, where their money won and conscience was sold. It is hard to breathe, when there is a fragment in your heart, and the world is unkind, And when good old days, flash like a loop, in the back of your mind. And when you are besotted with tough choices, You take to listening to commands, ignoring your own voices. Would I not want to sit together and count the stars and the moon, And you know that I am desperate for it to end, and return soon. Or to run after falling cherry blossoms, in the autumn evening. And watch the winter sun slowly go down, instead of abruptly leaving. Or would you not want some warmth and coffee, by a lingering fire. Instead of listening to charlatans, and a despotic liar. But here we are, miles apart, memories holding us like glue, And I can only watch your fading reflections, in drops of dew. Shots raging around, and some mint money, we are in the line to die for them. We came not for adventure, but to turn bullets into fortune, but for all of, us fate is just the same. To exchange sweat for liquor, and to have a happy home, was my desire, Instead, I find myself in this upsetting quagmire. Some of us won’t return, and some will be smothered by the soil, Yet we stay in the unjust fight, day and night we just toil. To keep everyone out of harms way, and to relive our bigger dreams. But then, we watch in despair, as we lose our way and our aspirations die in screams. Perhaps, there will be a newer sun tomorrow, stronger and brighter. That may chase away the darkness, and make everything lighter. Maybe the flowers will bloom, and discord will disappear, Perhaps some love, affection and kindness will overcome fear.
