Frame Gride was released on 15 July 1999 and was a Dreamcast exclusive title for the Japanese market only. It was developed by From Software that today is most famous for developing the Dark Souls series. The game's producer - Kenichiro Tsukuda - went later on to develop the Armored Core series and Ninety-Nine Nights II. The Lead Designer Nozomu Iwai went on to design Otogi: Myth of Demons as well as Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors. One last very noticeable person involved with Frame Gride is Naotoshi Zin that now is the CEO of From Software and is more or less responsible for their recent hit games. Frame Gride had an online two-player mode when it was released, but the online network was discontinued on 31 January 2001. We must admit that it's hard to play a game like Frame Gride when you don't know japanese. Similar to From Software's Armored Core series, the mechas in Frame Gride game are heavily customizable and all the stats is of course in japanese. This result in that you fall behind on the customization and you start losing battles. We made it through the menus with a text file that found on the Internet where a kind soul had translated them. We know that this game is fan translated and is available "out there", but that's not how we roll at Dreamcast Preservation Project. What we can say, however, is that if you find this game interesting; Go ahead and get yourself a copy. It's a fun (after you've learnt the complex controls) and intense 3D-mecha-fighter well worth a try.
