This tutorial is specially designed for beginners. You'll discover the essential features of the software and create your first project in no time. Here are brief explanations of the commands in FreeCAD: 1. Pad The Pad command is the primary tool for adding material. Action: It extrudes (pulls) a 2D sketch into a 3D solid. Use: Creating the main body or base shape of a part. 2. Pocket The Pocket command is the primary tool for removing material. Action: It cuts a shape into a solid based on a 2D sketch. Use: Creating holes, slots, or recesses. 3. Fillet The Fillet command is a finishing tool used to round sharp edges. Action: It replaces a sharp corner with a smooth circular arc. Use: Strengthening the part, reducing stress, or making it safe to handle. 4. Rib The Rib command adds a thin structural reinforcement to a part. Action: It takes a single line or open sketch and extrudes it to fill the space between two walls or a wall and a floor. Use: Strengthening brackets or plastic enclosures without using a lot of material (common in 3D printing and injection molding). 5. External Geometry This is a Sketcher tool (purple icon) used inside a sketch. Action: It allows you to "borrow" lines or points from the 3D object behind your sketch. Use: If you need to draw a circle exactly in the center of an existing square block, you use External Geometry to click the block's edges so your new sketch can snap to them.
