After going real hot on his project Friend Within there for a few months, we cooled off him a bit. Reason being: I just wasn't digging his releases during that time span. But I never lost faith in my Friend Within, as even Lee's average stuff is better than most producers best music IMO. On first listen, "Matchbox" quickly restored any wavering conviction I had for the UK talent. From the jump, the vocal sample "Dukukukuk"s us into a driving, relentless dance groove carried by prominent synths and a thick bassline. Two phenomenal builds serve as the focal points of the track, with the frist being my favorite as the music fades and once again he drops a "dukukukuk" on our head. "Matchbox" doesn't offer the depth that his track "The Renegade" (which very well might be my favorite tech house track ever created) does. It lacks the soul-edge that his previously shared "The Truth" offers well. That said, this one absolutely holds its own and seems to have spawned from a "I'm here for no other reason than to rock your world" attitude; yet again proving why Friend Within is up there with the finest tech house producers in the world.
