A short video of booting x86 image in the emulator. Having physical a device would be good to work for lot of graphics and hardware interfaces related development but for something in between at OS level, especially only console-based, emulator would be okay to have a start.
There are performance issues with the emulator graphics at present, which I did observe in my PC. So, I would use emulator minimal until I would get hardware.
