I was living overseas in Germany, had no idea what I was doing, and somehow decided I was going to convert a VW T5 into a campervan from scratch. Looking back, I still can’t really believe I pulled it off. This van build pushed me harder than anything I’d done before. I made so many mistakes - way more than I could fit in a single video - but it’s still one of the proudest achievements of my life. Not just because of the build itself, but because of what it taught me about confidence, problem-solving, and backing myself when I had no reason to. It’s wild to watch this timelapse now after everything that’s happened since. This build completely changed the direction of my life - it introduced me to van life, taught me how empowering DIY can be, and eventually led me to start Journey Van Builds, where I now do my best to empower others to have the same life changing van build experience as I did in this video.
