Fun times with Webe

Webe was about 3 months old when the Barn Hunt video was done. It was his first introduction to the rat and the first time he'd been allowed out of the yard / home area after getting his shots. He has since had another little lesson and was somewhat eager to sniff out the rat, but still needs a lot more interest in what's in that tube. On one of our walks in Tompkins park we had to stop and play on some of the equipment. Our play time was cut short when some children showed up. Shake is the first real "trick" we've been working on. This was about the 2nd or 3rd session. He has it down about 80% now. He still gets tooooooo excited thinking about the treat - and yes, I have started to randomize the treats at this stage in our training. Helping Dad wash off the patio - what fun. At my rally class Webe and I decided to give it a try - he has to learn to think for longer periods of time - and pay attention to me. Still using LOTS of treats and praise and since he doesn't know all the AKC exercises we change the stations he doesn't know into something he does. He's more precise about things at home (isn't that the dog trainers' cry 'BUT HE DOES IT AT HOME!") but he's coming.
