Garbage - Version 2.0 (Electronic Press Kit)

Garbage talk about their second album Version 2.0 This interview was recorded in early 1998 and distributed mid-June of that year along with the "I Think I'm Paranoid" music video. Version 2.0 sold 4 million copies worldwide, going double-platinum in the UK and platinum in Europe and the United States. The album dropped six hit singles ("Push It", "I Think I'm Paranoid", "Special", "When I Grow Up", "The Trick Is to Keep Breathing" and "You Look So Fine") and led into the Bond theme "The World is Not Enough", following four Grammy nominations: Best Rock Album and Album of the Year 1999, plus Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for "Special" in 2000. Version 2.0 equalled the success of the debut album Garbage, which was home to the hits "Queer", "Stupid Girl" and "Only Happy When It Rains", as well as their reknowned debut single "Vow". The debut slowburned its way to the top of the charts in UK, Australia and USA, with the band working it aroudn the globe on tour, while supplementing its single run with a new version of "Milk" produced with Tricky and a reworked "#1 Crush" for the soundtrack of the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack. Version 2.0 was followed by beautifulgarbage, a Rolling Stone Top 10 Album of the Year 2001, which contained the European and Australian hits "Androgyny" and "Cherry Lips", as well as the singles "Breaking Up The Girl", an Australian top 20, and "Shut Your Mouth", a UK Top 20; and the Bleed Like Me album, which powered to #4 in the US, UK and Australia, on the back of a surprise hit single "Why Do You Love Me". Garbage disbanded for a hiatus from 2005-2012, during which time they released a greatest hits collection, Absolute Garbage. In 2012, Garbage launched their own record label and released their comeback album Not Your Kind of People, which hit the Top Ten in the US, UK and Australia, followed up by Strange Little Birds in 2016, which was the #1 Rock Album in the US the week of release. Garbage are currently finishing their seventh studio album, due for release early in 2021.
