I show how to define datum references in terms of degrees of freedom. This is needed when creating a customized datum reference frame per ASME Y14.5. In this video, I am not creating a customized datum reference frame, but using the notation to analyze what exactly each datum reference is constraining.
I think it's a great learning tool, that anyone dealing with drawings can practice. Just grab a drawing, assign a coordinate system, and try to figure out which degrees of freedom each datum reference is taking away.
