In this video I show you how we can create texture, pattern and interest to our background papers by using a gelli plate and items that can be found around the home.
I use an inner tape roll, anti slip mats, coffee cup sleeves, doily papers, toilet roll holders, egg box cartons, bottle tops, corrugated card, bubble wrap, stencils and a fruit tray but please use whatever you have to hand. I lay down the paint and then make texture and pattern with my found items, remember that the pattern that you make on the gelli print will be transferred to your paper.
The colours that I use are:-
Portrait Pink
Raw Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Primary Magenta
Orange
Titanium White
Pale Yellow
Dark Purple
Bright Green
Lilac
Matt Turquoise
Buff Titanium
Raw Umber.
Please don't feel that you have to use these colours, use whatever you have, experiment and have fun and remember if you don't like the result you can just have another go but you will be surprised at the wonderful results that you do get just by playing and experimenting.
I use a good quality A4 copy paper but you can experiment with different papers as different papers will give varying results.
These papers can be used as background papers for your art, in your art journals or as mini pieces of art in their own right!
My playlist for this video is:-
Take Your Time
Birds in Flight
Dirty Mac
Kona Sun
Picnic on the Roof.
