Generalization is a key component in ABA therapy that enable the child to use a skill they learned in one setting and apply it in different environments. Maintenance is when the child no longer needs a prompt or reinforcement for that specific skill. Generalization and maintenance are important skills as a child will be able to perform the skill in different settings with different people.
