Generative Granular IDM
This patch is built around two voices. The first one is Battering Ram, sequenced by Bastl Kompas and modulated by Gliss and the Doepfer Quad VC Random. It then runs through 2hp Slice for extra ratcheting and rhythmic variation. Its inverted envelope is also used to duck the second voice. The second voice is really the core of the patch: Morphagene, loaded with several short sequences sampled from the Erica Synths Perkons Voice, each with slightly different sounds and textures. Morphagene is patched in a generative way. Its End of Gene output triggers Shift, so each finished gene moves to a new splice. The signal then goes through FX Wizard and into Desmodus Versio. The envelope out of FX Wizard modulates Gene Size and Varispeed on Morphagene. The Doepfer Quad VC Random also modulates Slide, as well as Amount and Time on FX Wizard. On top of that, FX Wizard modulates its own FX mode internally with a square wave, making the effect change regularly in sync. The result is a patch full of texture, movement and unpredictability, never playing quite the same way twice. I only shape it manually here and there by adjusting the hit density on Kompas. Recorded live. Hope you enjoy the trip.
