In this video we explore the way by which genetic algorithms (GAs) operate on, and modify standard Fault Trees of complex systems (can be of any size), with the goal of upgrading the system to a newly desired probability of failure (the root node of the tree). To that end, at this first stage, the algorithm achieves the objective by restructuring component redundancy levels, while keeping within given technical constraints of the system. Follow-up work will give additional authority to the GA beyond changing component redundancy levels.
