Get to know alt-pop extraordinaire Blake (@Blakemusicnz) Hailing from Queenstown, the now Auckland-based Blake is rising quickly within the Aotearoa music scene. With a string of releases under her belt, we were so excited to see her perform live and to chat with her before her performance at our NZ On Air Music June showcase. She fills us in on her journey thus far, and how her time overseas helped shaped her to become the person she is now. Her 2022 solo EP 'SKEPTICAL' garnered wide-spread support from local media, with her single ‘CPU’ notably reaching #6 on the Hot 20 NZ Singles Chart. Following on from this success, her latest release 'Breakdown Breakthrough' is about the unsettling notion of being at a crossroad in life, with swirling synths, emotive guitars and hook-laden backing vocals to sonically mirror the subject matter.
