Glittered Paper Towel Base Tutorial

In today’s resin tutorial, I’m showing you how to transform a simple Dollar Tree paper towel holder into a custom glitter resin base using epoxy, glitter, and a silicone mold. This project is perfect for beginner resin artists as well as experienced makers looking for a fun and functional DIY resin craft. We’ll start by prepping the paper towel holder with sanding, alcohol wipe-down, and Rustoleum spray paint. Then, I’ll share how to create a custom glitter mix using Peachy Olive Glitters USS Voyager, The Glitter Guy Sea Storm, and Big Spoon. I’ll show you step by step how to test, tweak, and perfect your own glitter mix before pouring it into a 7-inch silicone mold. For this epoxy pour, I’m using Flynn Sisters Fast Set epoxy with a touch of black epoxy pigment to give the base a sheer, smoky effect that complements the glitter beautifully. I’ll walk you through how to pour epoxy into the mold, torch bubbles safely, and achieve smooth, full glitter coverage without damaging your silicone molds. Finally, we’ll add a second epoxy layer, demold the piece, and reveal the finished glitter paper towel holder base—a stylish, functional resin project that I use daily in my tumbler-making workspace.
