My old work chum Gene Wilson-Rogers reminded me of this song. He'd been listening to an old L.P. by the late John Rennard who died in a road traffic accident in 1971 when he was only 24 years old. I never got to hear JR sing as I never started on the folk scene until 1973 but I've heard lots of good reports about him. I used to sing this song myself many years ago and probably do it differently to Mr. Rennard, my version is probably a bastardised version of his from hearing other singers do it.
