Got Away With Me

Are we enough? Some people think that the music industry is for stars... We’ve always had a hard time putting ourselves at the forefront of our music, because we’re uncomfortable in the limelight, and we don’t see ourselves as having that ‘star quality.’ Impostor Syndrome is something we’re so familiar with that we often have to pull each other out of bed, and convince each other that we belong. Our insecurities have impacted the way we create and the way we share. We hide behind other people’s voices and images, and we have the tendency to ‘overcook’ things because we feel like everything we release needs to be polished… We are not polished people. We often think, “do we deserve an audience? Are we enough?“ Whatever walk of life or industry you’re from, do you ever feel this way? In 1975 Patti Smith said in an interview, “The only crime in art is to do lousy art. I'm going to promote myself exactly as I am, with all my weak points and my strong ones. My weak points are that I'm self-conscious and often insecure, and my strong point is that I don't feel any shame about it.” Got Away With Me is another step in the rewarding journey to embracing who we are, letting people in, and proving to ourselves that we are enough. The song is about our relationship and how we help each other through our versions of darkness. We recorded, mixed, and mastered it, and we made this music video too.
