Lecture date: 2007-04-23 In recent centuries, the object has been lost in philosophy. But certain developments in phenomenology began to revive the object after the long, cold winter of idealism. But there is a central paradox of this new form of object-oriented philosophy. If objects are what always hide or withdraw from any possible access, then how do they interact at all? Graham Harman is a member of the faculty of philosophy at the American University in Cairo. His most recent books are Guerrilla Metaphysics: Phenomenology and the Carpentry of Things and Heidegger Explained: From Phenomenon to Thing. Lecture organised by Diploma Unit 14.
