Unit–7: Grammatical Functions and Semantic Roles Introduction In English grammar, we study how sentences are made and how words work together. Two important ideas are Grammatical Functions and Semantic Roles. These help us understand both the structure and the meaning of sentences. Grammatical functions tell us the job of each word in a sentence. Semantic roles tell us the meaning of each word in the action.
