In this tutorial, I show how to get started using the Grasshopper-Archicad Live Connection Tool. I use a multi-story building as an example to show how you can generate parametric geometry in Grasshopper3D, then synchronise it with Graphisoft Archicad. We create parametric floor slabs, a curtainwall and a column grid.
In Archicad:
File --- Interoperability --- Grasshopper Connection
In Grasshopper:
Archicad Tab (at the very top) --- Archicad Connection Palette
Pseudo-code
Goal:
Create a high-rise with floor slabs and a curtainwall. The floor slabs will have rounded corners.
Steps:
1. Create a closed polyline
2. Fillet the curve
3. Move the curve vertically (Z-axis) a number of times to represent each floor
4. Convert the curves to a slab with thickness (Archicad Component)
5. Use the original curve and extrude it to the top of the building (Archicad Component)
