Parchment coffee usually rests for one month, after completing the drying process. After this time, it is cleaned, screened, and sorted into green coffee, ready for export. This process is referred to as dry-milling. The first step in dry milling, is to screen the parchment coffee, in order to remove any foreign objects, such as rocks, sticks, string, etc. The parchment then enters the huller, or parchment remover, where a rotating cylinder creates friction on the passing parchment, forcing that layer off of the green coffee. The parchment is channeled out of the machine, by a vacuum, as it is stripped from the green coffee. The green coffee continues on the path of processing, where it is soon after screened, and graded for weight, size, color, and density. Once dry-milling has taken place, green coffee is bagged, and ready for export.
