Ground Continuity Test
Ground Continuity Test Hi, I'm John Allen, president and CEO of Product Safety Consulting. We've been helping manufacturers obtain product certifications for over 35 years now. We came up with a series of videos to help people understand and teach people how to do the basic testing for product safety. Today we're going to show you how to do ground continuity test. But for field evaluations, it is not full certification test at all. It's the ground continuity test for field evaluations. And it's a very simple test. We're going to use a multimeter. We're going to put it on the diode. We're going to first make sure that we have continuity and the meter is working and you could hear the audible. And that's what we're looking for. We want to make sure that the ground path of any product. So we're going to hook up one lead to the ground lead, and we're going to touch accessible metal parts to make sure we have very low resistance in the ground path. You can see. So far we're good. So here we go. We have a test failure. So this screw, very much like this paint, the screw has not broken the paint and got to dead metal. So that actually would be a test failure. We will help him fix that star washers brake paint masking off before you paint is another idea to help alleviate that. Now we're going to test our street lamp again. We're going to hook it to ground and we're going to touch accessible metal to make sure that we have very low resistance. And we do. And that is a pass that manufacturers a happy camper. Simple test to do. Quick test out in the field as well. Thank you for stopping by our YouTube channel and look to the channel for several other videos on how to do basic testing and product safety.
