This video discusses the basics of several approaches for numerical simulation of ground motion, presents three contexts for validation of simulations, and presents some results using "proxy" metrics to validate ground motion simulations. Transparent and informative validation is an important step in advancing the use of ground motion simulations in earthquake engineering.
