Guard Your Heart
@OneHeartSteadyFlow Proverbs 4:23 - Above all else guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. What if our struggles stem from not knowing the truth, but instead being able to hold the truth in our hearts in a world that leads us into many distractions? We are given the command to guard our hearts above all else and this gets incredibly hard when faced with in the moment real world challenges. The heart is a muscle and can be strengthened just like going to the gym. Its building one fiber at a time with repetition over and over to use focus, with humility, paired with scripture to build faith. The "weight of the wait" - incredibly hard in a distraction filled world. As Sam Wegner writes in his book - The Weight of the Wait, its a place where we find God. Pull attention back from the brain in it's task of analyzing and predicting, back to the heart while replaying the words of truth from scripture in the chambers of this organ called out more than eight-hundred times in the Bible. Science is catching up with what the Bible has laid out from the beginning--it starts in the heart--it being the driver of 85% of the communication from the heart to the brain. Everything flows from it, the good and the things that are not filled with love. What kinds of information do we want the heart to be communicating to the brain? God bless YOU ALL! Lord, tend my heart today. Clear what clogs it. Heal what hardens it. Slow what rushes it. Let what enters me be refined by you and let what leaves me carry your peace.
