Guilty Ladies and gentlemen... The court is preparing... Let the defendant enter. Heavy footsteps echo down the hall, boots striking hard, Chains drag across the concrete, cold air in the dark, The door creaks open slowly, every eye turns his way, A petty thief in handcuffs, staring blank and gray. The judge strikes once, the gavel cuts the silence clean, “The court is in session, let the hearing now begin.” The lawyer clears his throat, the file lies open wide, “Your Honor, you have the floor...” now all eyes in the room abide. The defendant rises slowly, his chains begin to sing, “I didn’t steal from anyone big, I only did one thing...” But truth is never gentle when the light falls cold, In this stone courtroom, every lie is bought and sold. And the chains are heard again, And the echo fills the room, Everyone is waiting now, For the verdict to bloom. Defendant, guilty, the gavel hits, the sound is clear, Defendant, guilty, the court has ruled: the end is near. Chains and steps and iron doors, no air can breathe inside these walls, Defendant, guilty, beneath a heavy, merciless sky it falls. The witnesses step forward, one by one, their voices shake, One describes what he had seen, another swears it was a fake, The prosecutor raises fire, pressing hard with every line, “Did you take it? Were you there? Who fled that night in crime?” The defendant sits in the box, his hands are trembling tight, The chain scratches on the floor like a wound that won’t take flight, “I was wrong, but I’m no monster, I only took what I lacked,” But in the court of judgment, time itself has cracked.
