The multimedia performance "Human is Alien" by Pregistoric Soul, in collaboration with the Tukad Abu Community, presents an artistic experience that combines sound, visuals, the body, and space as a medium for reflection on human alienation in the modern world. This performance functions not only as an audiovisual spectacle but also as a contemplative space that questions humanity's relationship to identity, technology, nature, and its social environment. Artistically, "Human is Alien" creates an experimental atmosphere through the use of visual projections, electronic soundscapes, noise, ritualistic rhythms, and bodily performance that moves between elements of tradition and futurism. The combination of multimedia elements creates an immersive experience, where the audience not only observes the performance but also experiences the alienation that is the work's central theme. The performers' bodies symbolize the fragmented nature of modern humanity—striving to find meaning amidst accelerating technological and social change. The collaboration with the Tukad Abu Community reinforces the local and ecological dimensions of this performance. Elements of traditional sound, organic materials, and a community-based approach provide layers of meaning, suggesting that human alienation is also related to the increasingly strained relationship between humanity and nature and its collective memory. In this context, the performance serves as a critique of modernity, which tends to erase humanity's connection to the environment and communal values. From a performance perspective, Human is Alien can be analyzed as an interdisciplinary artwork that blurs the boundaries between experimental music concert, performance art, visual installation, and contemporary ritual. The performance's non-linear structure demonstrates an artistic approach that emphasizes emotional and sensory experience over conventional narrative. This allows the audience to construct their own personal interpretations of the symbols, sounds, and visuals presented. Overall, Human is Alien represents a search for a new artistic language in contemporary Indonesian performance art. This work demonstrates how multimedia can be used not merely as an enabling technology, but as a medium for social critique and philosophical reflection on the position of humans in the modern era, increasingly alienated from themselves, others, and nature.
