As requested, this is instruction in the Shito-ryu Kata Haffa as taught to me by Kenei Mabuni, the eldest son of the founder Kenwa Mabuni. I learned this kata at a seminar (in the 1990s), as I did many other kata and training drills from different instructors, but I enjoyed this kata and so have added it to my kata repertoire (I practice about 30 different kata, including 2 versions of Sanchin) and have continued to train it. It is a great kata for a warm-up as most of the stances are cat stance / neko ashi dachi and do not require a lot of flexibility. I also enjoy how it showcases some techniques, stances, and movements that are not emphasized in Shotokan.
