Half Binding - Double The Charm

Discover the timeless beauty of The Half Binding, a classic bookbinding structure where the spine, corners, and a small portion of the boards are wrapped in cloth, paired with a beautifully marbled paper cover. In this video, I show you the process, from folding and piercing the signatures, to sewing the text block with the French link stitch, and adding hand-sewn Endbands in three colors. After preparing the spine with glue and mull in the finishing press, I move on to building the cover: marking the layout, attaching the cloth, and pairing it with marbled paper for a traditional half-bound design. Finally, I connect the finished text block to its cover and place everything in the press for a clean, satisfying finish. The pacing is calm and intentional, focusing on the beautiful details to create a peaceful, atmospheric craft experience.
