Hi! Today we’re going to be making Halva You will need; 2 cups of flour 1 cup of sugar 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 1/3 cup of Rose Water 4 Tbsp of Saffron Solution 3/4 cup of Vegetable Oil 1/2 cup of Ghee Oil or Butter 2 cups of Water Sift the flour twice. To make the saffron solution, pour your saffron over a few ice cubes and wait for them to melt. To make the syrup, boil some water and then add the sugar. The recipe that I’m using isn’t overly sweet. If you’d like yours to be more on the sweet side, add an extra half cup of sugar. Once the sugar has completely dissolved, add your rose water, saffron, and cardamom. Mix well and set the stove to low heat to keep the syrup warm. It does not need to harden. In a separate saucepan, heat up/melt the oil and butter. Heat up a large pan and cook the flour. Be careful not to burn it. Keep mixing so that the flour doesn’t clump together. Keep on the stove until the flour changes colour. The darker you make the flour, the darker your finished dish will be. Sift the flour again to break apart any clumps that might have formed. Add the hot oil to the flour and mix. Depending on the type of flour you use, the amount of oil you need will differ. Once the flour and oil are fully incorporated, gradually mix in the syrup. Keep mixing over heat for 5-6 minutes. Don't worry if you see that it’s too runny, leave it on the stove for a little longer until the liquid evaporates a bit more. Move all the Halva onto one side of the pan. It should be able to easily slide from one side to another. Move the Halva to your desired serving dish and design however you’d like.
