This slideshow is a brief overview of a chess set I made many years ago. Looking at the pieces again after all this time is a great reminder that there is always room for improvement!
I do not recall what wood I used, but it carved well. The darker pieces were stained with coffee while the lighter pieces were left untreated.
The chess board was also handmade. It is not precise or neat, but it works well enough.
The last photo shows a chess set that I began working on in the last five or so years but haven't made much progress on recently. That set it based off of the Lewis Chessmen set. Please let me know if you would like that progress documented.
