Hard Work Paid Off
I wasn't exactly firing on all cylinders today - but I ventured out onto the flats, hoping a Whiting session might do the trick. I'm glad that I did! First fish was in close with a hopeful cast (I wasn't recording for the hook-up). From there I worked my way out to waist deep water where there were some bigger fish waiting. A cracking 35cm fish, which is my PB, showed up, giving a good account of itself. As I kept working my way into knee deep then shin deep water, more fish. Some over 30, all on the Slippery Dog 80. Towards the end, the wind dropped off which led to lighter hook-ups and the fish were timid. I still managed to pin a couple but dropped a few during the later stages, they just weren't as committed. It wasn't an easy session, but it was one of those days where you're reminded why getting out there matters - even when you're not feeling 100%.
