as requested, some patch notes I use a 1010music Bluebox module, which is a mixer which can also record tracks to an SD card I will therefore break down these patch notes in to the various tracks that were set up for this project Track 1, stereo - Opalina + noise I use the Opalina filter as a mixer to bring together three sound sources the main bass drone is created by feeding a sine wave from the Doepfer A-110-1 VCO into the DPW Design Wavefolder the beauty of the DWP Design Wavefolder is that from a simple sine wave you can get a nice stereo pulse width modulated square wave which is better explained in this video by the manufacturer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmAPt9bdvuU the output from the Wavefolder is patched in to a pair of Expert Sleepers Ivo Filters... I use a couple of Doepfer A-183-2 Offset/Attenuverter to control the pair of Ivo filters as though they were a single stereo filter... I should do a video of that one day the output from each Ivo filter is then patched in to the main stereo input of Opalina the second sound source is from one of the disting Mk4 modules using algorithm B8, which is the VCO with waveshaping although there is no modulation patched in to the waveshape input... output A is used and is set to triangle/saw and tuned to G2 this is patched in to the Erica Synths Black Polivoks VCF in low pass mode with different speed LFO patched in to CV1 and CV2 the third sound source is noise from a disting EX in dual mode using the H7 noise algorithm set to "blended" with an LFO patched in to the blend input, Z, which is then patched in to the input of the Doepfer A-120 VCF and from there in to the Opalina HIGH left input the A-120 has a slow LFO patched in to the CV2 input there is also another faster LFO patched in to the A-120 CV3 input via a Doepfer VCA with a slow LFO used to modulate its level and it can be heard as a fast warble of noise every now and then Track 2, stereo - Dream Matchine + Elements the Doepfer A-138p and A-138o performance mixer is used to mix together outputs from the disting NT and Mutable Instruments Elements modules the disting NT has a Dream Machine algorithm set up to give a stereo wavetable output which is scanned and each side, left and right, slightly frequency modulated... I use a square LFO from Pam's New Workout to turn it on and off Elements is set up in drone mode by sending a constant voltage into the gate imput... various parameters are then modulated by slow LFO to try to make the drone "interesting" noise from the second output of the disting EX mentioned above is fed in to the Elements FM input which further affects the sounds produced Track 3, stereo - Granulator in the same small case as the Bluebox I have a disting EX which is always left with the Granulator module set up I use this as a send effect with the Bluebox mixer... if I get time I will go in to more details but basically the Granulator provides much of the higher frequency stuff especially when the guitar is played Track 4, mono - Ring Mod probably my least favourite of modules, the Deopfer A-114 has two oscillators patched in to its two inputs the X input is the main mono output from the Wavefolder which is patched into the Expert Sleepers Cicely module for additional sound mangling with LFO modulating Gain and Centre settings the Y input is the output from a disting Mk3 in 4-d VCO with waveshaping mode, output B, square wave, tuned to C (I should measure the pitch...) the X*Y output is patched in to the LP input of the Doepfer A-101-1 Vactrol VCF which has slow LFO modulating CVF2 I have never really understood ring modulators... I really should dive in to my Patch and Tweek book one day... not my favourite track this one Track 5, mono - Dream Machine + Kirbinator the disting NT is set up with a Dream Machine and Kirbinator algorithms... the Dream Machine is fed into the Kirbinator to provide some slightly interesting rising and falling pitch effects here and there, some more obvious than others... I use Pam's New Workout to turn on the Wavetable and trigger the Kirbinator into action Track 6, mono - disting EX Poly Wavetable synth this is a simple pad sound with slow attack and release provided by the disting EX Poly Wavetable algorithm Track 7, mono - Guitar my PRS Studio guitar runs through the HX Effects multi-effects pedal with some compression, saturation and a bit of reverb (because you can't have too much reverb) before being patched in to the Bluebox Track 8, stereo - DD-8 Delay the Ring Mod, Poly Wavetable synth and guitar are sent in to the Boss DD-8 delay pedal just for a bit of extra stereo width, though listening back as I type this, much of it seems to be lost in the mix I think that's it... probably not that helpful really... YouTube has a limit on the number of characters you can use in a video description and it has taken me nearly three hours to put this together :-)
