Heat Pumps

In the intro episode of Electrification Conversations, we set the stage for why the apparel and textile sector needs clean heat, and why heat pumps are emerging as a promising solution. Our Low Carbon Thermal Roadmap predicts this technology could significantly reduce costs and emissions from 2030 onward in key production regions. This technology isn’t new - in Germany, heat pumps outpaced gas boiler sales for home heating in 2025 - but it has not yet been widely applied in industrial settings, especially in textile manufacturing. Aii is currently supporting several implementations of both hot water and steam-generating heat pumps to better understand their real-world applications, performance, and scalability. In this episode, we’re joined by Shivam Gusai, founder of Decypher, to unpack what heat pump technology is, how it works, and why it matters for textile decarbonization.
