Every helicopter will have a height velocity diagram in the Pilot's Operating Handbook. Become familiar with the one in the helicopter you are training in and know the safe altitude for an out of ground effect hover operation. The examiner will cover this during your helicopter check ride. You may not be able to conduct a successful auto rotation, should the engine quit in the shaded area of the height velocity diagram.
