As a hunter, or a landowner located in a state with very high hunting pressure, it can often times be difficult to keep the local bucks alive or get them to that coveted next year. Being surrounded by hunters focused on shooting the first antlered deer they see means that we need to do everything we can to help these deer survive.
While we will never be able to help every buck in the neighborhood, these are wild animals and we hunt small parcels, there are things that we can do on our properties to increase their chance of survival. It all comes down to control, who is more likely to decide which bucks get targeted and which bucks don't, you or your neighbor?
