HERE I COME - EMS BUFF
I was inspired to write this song after reflecting on my career over the past two decades in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). When you’re a part of this profession, the things we do day-to-day become second nature to us. We frequently get dispatched to the worst day of someone’s life. We cannot lose sight of that fact. As patient advocates, we devote ourselves to caring for the public, and in the process, we are exposed to a great deal of trauma. We repeatedly take in people’s pain and fears while performing our duties. Unless you are a first responder, it is difficult to comprehend the stress endured by EMTs and Paramedics. For many of us, our motivation and emotional endurance comes from a strong desire to help other human beings. We learn to be resilient and cope in the face of adversity. We are medical professionals. As EMTs, paramedics, police officers and firefighters in New York City, devastating events such as the two attacks on the WTC, blackouts, Superstorm Sandy, and other weather emergencies are not new to us. We respond with pride and dedication. Now, COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is the new threat to our safety and well-being. I considered these things when I wrote the song and feel proud of my brothers and sisters who are on the front lines dealing with this health crisis. I urge all first responders to seek guidance when they need it the most and to never feel fearful of sharing their feelings. If I had to do this all over again, I would still pursue this career without hesitation. It led to the most rewarding experiences of my life. Not everyone can be an EMT or Paramedic. You are on the front lines stepping up to face the challenge. I thank you for your service. Produced/Edited by Farooq Muhammad (EMS BUFF) Original Song by Farooq Muhammad, Rap Footage Cinematography by Alex Arroyo, Beat Production by Freebeats.io Special thanks to my wife, Aisha Muhammad, for jumping in on the chorus with me ❤️
