After three weeks of rust… we finally got to do something that actually feels like progress. This is Episode 3 of Melissa’s 2006 Toyota Hiace build - and it’s the first step where the van actually starts to transform. Insulation is one of those steps people overthink - moisture barriers, condensation, mold, floor insulation debates - so in this episode we just show exactly what we did and why. 🔗Products Used: (Affiliate link - supports the channel at no extra cost to you) 👉Van Liner Closed Cell Foam - https://journeyvanbuilds.com/van-line... ✨Use Code: Journey5 for 5% OFF✨ 👉Amazon Store - https://amzn.to/4cm4KvU We used closed cell foam on the walls and ceiling, and a thinner layer under the subfloor to save headroom. It’s not the cheapest method, but after multiple builds it’s still the most beginner-friendly system I’ve found. We walk through: • Why I prefer closed cell foam • Creating “mini” moisture barriers by physically bonding to the panels • Gluing floor insulation properly • Whether insulating the floor even matters in warm climates • The small mistake we made (and why it didn’t matter) Next up: subfloor and framing - where things really start looking like a van build again. 👉Visit my website: https://www.journeyvanbuilds.com/ 📲 Join the community: Instagram – @JourneyVanBuilds TikTok – @JourneyVanBuilds Facebook Group – Journey Van Builds Community Subscribe if you're building your own van and want practical guidance without the fluff.
