I designed and built this bed. Queen size. All visible wood is solid cedar. Very knotty and lots of character in the wood. Finish is sanded to 220 grit and stained with Minwax "espresso" color stain. The bed is very over built, very solid, very heavy. Most supplies came from Home Depot including the wood. Would be very easy to add many more mounting hooks for hanging more or other things in the headboard and footboard. Wouldn't be very hard to add four drawers in behind the four doors on the sides.
