Here you can see an experimental setup for the demonstration of very fast 2D Code Scanning. The scanners used are the Keyence models SR-610 and the SR-1000, both triggered by a laser light beam photocell. The fastest scanning frequency in this video is 28 Codes per Second (the SR-1000 manages to do that, but not the SR-610).
Scanners like these are used in automated production lines, for scanning barcodes on fast running products like plastic containers, bottles or paper envelopes (mail).
