Design of Highway Lighting with HEADS Pro
The importance of proper highway lighting is very important for the purpose of safety of the road users. The design of the highway lighting measured from reflected illumination from the road surface and that is measured in terms of ‘Luminous Flux’ or simply ‘Lux’, at various points in a X-Y Grid. This is discussed in details from Page 14 of this tutorial guide, along with sample of Lux data on the highway and on the service road.
In this session we shall see the procedure to study the illumination by highway lighting by processing the measured ‘Lux’ data from an input file and creating triangulation and contours of the illumination on the road surface. This will help us achieve the desired illumination by adjusting the parameters such as Power of the Lamp, Height of the lamp above the road surface and the spacing of lamp posts along the road.
