Yes, you're right, that's a strange combination. It was so good by the end of the 80s to see audiences dancing again. Ecstasy pills helped, obviously, but the UK seriously got into dance music. Don't get me wrong, I like to see a bit of moshing from the stage, it's exciting but, ultimately, reminds me of cockroaches in a pit. Not elegant nor stylish. It would have been good to have a manager who could talk to the TV shows and sort the lights out - this is lit like a sweety shop - but we didn't so we were at the mercy of breathless individuals in sensible golf wear who probably got their chops on the painful sets of Top Of The Pops.
