The plaintiff says she hired the defendant, a keyboard player, for a jazz gig in Texas, but he backed out at the last minute, forcing her to find a replacement at significant additional expense. She also discovered the defendant took another gig instead, and in her business, canceling one job for another is extremely unprofessional. She is suing for the amount she’s owed. The defendant says he told the plaintiff he doesn’t like to fly and realized he would have to pay for his own plane ticket. He says he decided not to go, gave her a week’s notice, and owes her nothing.
