HL VX-800 Scale model engine

After some tinkering around I have finally got this engine running not too bad. I purchased just the engine- semi assembled, I had to finish off assembly then make a base for it. I’ve copied the original base as closely as I could, buying all parts from AliExpress, the only place where these engines are offered for sale. Assembly was pretty straight forward, I only had one little hiccup on the front cover pressing up against the timing gear idler securing stud and causing an oil leak (not mentioned in the video). The distributor required a small modification to secure it in place, the water pump didn’t perform, even after machining its tolerances a bit tighter so it was replaced with an electric pump then I ended up utilising the pump anyway as a fuel pump. The valve springs were way too soft so they were replaced with something a little stiffer and I’m currently running a Walbro carb. I’ll keep tinkering with its original carbs and who knows, I may try the duel carby setup as well.
