HOCKETING
The term "hocketing" refers to music making with rapid alternation between members of an ensemble to create melodies or interlocking rhythms, often with each member responsible for just one or two notes. The instruments in this video are hand-held instruments and with them it's hard for a single player to hold and play more than one or two notes at a time. With an ensemble playing in hocketing fashion, it becomes possible to use the instruments fluidly. For more information on the instruments in this video, see this blog: https://barthopkin.com/hocketing/. For more on other instruments by Bart Hopkin, visit the Instrumentarium at www.BartHopkin.com. And by the way! Bart has recently released an album of his music, made primarily on instruments he's made. It's called Audiorium, and it's available through the usual download and streaming services.
