Song written by Sanford Markley. I wrote this back in the 80s during a time in DC with the crack cocaine epidemic. At the time, I was listening to a lot of opera and thought a modern day opera would have the present situation (80s) a perfect setting for a libretto. I was going over old songs and heard this and thought it appropriate for today as well.
I did use AI to create much of the video (all persons and children, except me, are AI created), and while I think it fun to play around with, I'm not convinced it's a good use of technology morally. However, without it, I could not have made the video, paying actors, lighting, extras, etc. So there's that.
