Homemade Rocket Igniter with Rocket Candy

This is a rocket candy igniter I bodged together in just a few minutes. It is made with ordinary sugar and KNO3, and a short piece of very thin steel wire from a buffing wheel. The orange and white wires are from some CAT5 ethernet cable (24 AWG I believe). The battery is a 12v pack I made from 1.2v NiMH AA cells some years ago (probably over ten years ago).
