Slim Dusty Tribute Special Program Two trips were made to Kempsey to record this unique rare event, people who were apart of the Slim Dusty Story, were expected to be coming together at the opening of the long awaited Slim Dusty Centre in Kempsey northern NSW, it could be said that to have most if not all of the people who were apart of Slim Dusty Life in one place at the one time… would not be an understatement. People came from all states and territories of Australia, they were Slim Dusty friends, colleges, musical collaborators, song writes, family members of the Australian country music fraternity, Kernaghan, Lindsay, Coster, Kirkpatrick. The Official opening of The Slim Dusty Centre, 19th November 2015; coincides 69years ago to the day 19th November 1946 when Slim Dusty entered EMI REGAL Zonophone Homebush studios to officially record, and one of those tracks was the Classic “When the rain tumbles down in July” he was a young man from Nulla Nulla Creek with a dream, which he most definitely full filled.
