Honeysuckle Hand Drill Spindle
I keep finding fun things to do with honeysuckle! The last time I was camping I found this really straight piece and was inspired to take it home with me to make a replaceable bit hand drill spindle. It works great! I hope you’ll give it a try. In some of my other videos featuring honeysuckle, you may have noticed that I usually take off the bark. Much to my surprise, honeysuckle has some pretty, nearly white wood underneath its gnarly bark. I decided to leave the bark on for this project, though, in order to increase my grip while manipulating the spindle. Again, this spindle works great! And I didn’t spend more than about 20 minutes making it, with most of that time spent opening up the hole at the base of the spindle. As promised, here’s a link to the video where I first showcased my little fatwood thumb sling thunderhead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0fV2sexPcs Also, in case you’ve forgotten how to do whipping, here’s a short tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ-NWhK1Qpw Paytah Wahkan!
